Are You Tired Of Being An Addict?

Romans 6:16 says, " Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness?" The Bible is very clear that when someone chooses to sin, they become a slave to that sin. What is a "sin"? To put it simply, to sin is to break God's Law, violate His Commandments, to disobey what He has told us to do. In addition to the fact that our sin separates us from God, some sins are addictive and harmful to us and those around us.
Sins of substance abuse and sexual behaviors will both keep you out of heaven and they will destroy your life here on earth! The good news is that God will forgive and set us free when we turn to Jesus Christ in faith and repentance. However, God can only forgive and deliver those who admit they have a problem and are doing things that displease Him. We read in Galatians 5:
19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness,
20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies,
21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
Some of these sins that are mentioned are very addictive behaviors that become very difficult to stop. Substance abuse such as drugs and alcohol fall under the category of "drunkenness", while various sexual sins are also mentioned. How do you get free from these things? Well, Jesus promises us that "He whom the Son sets free, is free indeed!"
